Salisbury Music and Dance

Salisbury Music and Dance brings you the best live Jazz, Swing, Blues and Rock & Roll bands to Salisbury on a Saturday night every month. Come along and tap your feet, sing along and even get up and dance!

Vintage in concert

After their great success last year, Salisbury Music and Dance are back with another Dinner and Dance night fundraise, in aid of the British Heart Foundation. On 8th June Vintage will be in concert at the Michael Herbert Hall in Wilton. Tickets on sale for £20 with a Ploughman's supper.

Vintage are a young three-piece Rock and Roll band that never cease to amaze their audiences. To hear such classics from a band so young is awesome - the 50s and 60s are being revisited... They've been gigging live now for around ten years and play an array of hits from Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Hayley, Eddie Cochran and Chuck Berry - to name but a few.

About Us

During the pandemic, in 2020, entertainment venues were forced to close. We had to live without live music, until our good friend Megs Etherington came to the rescue and welcomed Jazz fans to enjoy several afternoons of great music in his garden, with the required social distancing! This inspired us to bring live music back to Salisbury when venues reopened.

Megs with his Harry Strutter's Hot 5 very kindly agreed to play our first gig in April 2022.

After much searching for a suitable sized venue, with a bar and nearby parking we found a hitherto little-known first-floor function room in the centre of Salisbury.

After the sucess of the first night we are privileged to have so many other bands wanting to bring their hot foot tapping dance music dance to Salisbury, and Wilton too.

After being asked for some authentic Rock & Roll, we secured the Elvis56 Tribute act in May and in September a local band Ricky Vernon and the Path Finders, who some of you may recall from the 1960s.

We invite bands to play mainstream Swing and Blues or Rock & Roll to appeal to all ages.

We particularly welcome guests who want to come along and dance, whatever your skill level. Just take to the dance floor and have some fun.

Previous Events

On Saturday 23rd September, 150 rock and rollers of all ages jived the night away to raise money for charity.

The event, at the Michael Herbert Hall in Wilton, featured the fantastic Timespan with two guest spots by singer Richard Sheppard.

The event raised an amazing £1170 for the British Heart Foundation. Mike Challis and Liz Cook, from Salisbury Music and Dance, who organised the event, would like to thank family and friends for their help. Their thanks also goes to Salli Grant from local fitness group Happy Hearts for organising the raffle.

Liz says, "We also thank all of our guests for their support on the night and look forward to welcoming you to our next rock and roll event on Saturday 25th November at the Castle Street Social Club in Salisbury. Tickets selling now!"
